This time last week, we posted an image two of our fave babes; Aussie model Bree Warren and French model Chloe Lecareux who have two different body types, both just as beautiful as each other! This post went viral, gaining 1708 likes, which is kind of a big deal to us, so we wanted to discuss the topic of body diversity a little further and why this subject actually matters to us.
It's safe to say that the fashion industry has created an unhealthy culture around body image, with a huge percentage of fashion labels using models who are strictly size 6 and 6 foot tall. This in turn often leads to young girls and women doing everything in their power to achieve this so called "ideal" body type. As we know, the mission to "skinny" calls for calorie counting, food restriction, in some cases eating disorders and excessive exercise, a pattern many of us are all too familiar with. As a fashion label we refuse to conform to the the industry culture of only showing one body shape in our clothing. The last thing we want is for Saroka women to feel inadequate about their body, therefore we think it is important to show a diverse range of babes in our feed. Hopefully post by post we can start to change the mindset's of women and the way they feel about their body.
To every girl out there, please take a moment to let go of the "ideal" body type you have stuck in your head, despite what you see on social media, in magazines & on tv. It is OK to have a different body shape to everyone else!
