The Comeback of the Corset

Boy have corsets made a comeback and not in the way we are used to! Traditionally corsets were used to shape, constrict and accentuate a women's curves, a trend that became less and less popular with the evolution of fashion. We lost sight of the corset, to the point where you could only ever find one in the lingerie department. Until recently the corset has been reborn and styled as an every day accessory- this time styled over the top of outfits instead of underneath.
I hate to admit it, but I first drew inspiration from Kim Kardashian, after I saw her in the likes of Australian Vogue looking like a dream in the most divine corset's. Christine Centenera seriously nailed the styling of Kim K in this spread, so much so, that I couldn't help but want to design one for Saroka's Lost in Translation collection.
I knew that I didn't want a basic Black or White one, as I could see these colours were already popping up left right and centre, so I went the Grey Marle option- a neutral shade, that looks amazing with denim and basics. And as a second option, I created the Tie Dye, for all the girls who like to add a little drama to their outfit and aren't afraid to stand out from the crowd! The best thing about our Carissa Corset is that it's not just for those with an itty bitty waist, believe it or not it actually creates a waistline for all you beautiful rectangle and triangle shaped babes.
My top style tip for the hourglass babe is to wear the corset over something fitted like our Chloe Dress, this will truly enhance and define your waistline. As shown below:

As for the rectangle or triangle shape beauties, wear a corset over more relaxed shapes like our Daze Top or Elle Pants, the corset will pull in the looseness of these styles to then give the illusion of a waistline...you should totally try it!!! See below:
