People often think of fashion bloggers as girls who just get paid to look fab in a dress and take a picture, yes, this is true, some so called "bloggers" literally take a selfie in their room and get a whole heap of credit it for it. On the other hand, there are fashion bloggers such as Margaret Zhang, Amanda Shadforth and our #SarokaSeries 2 girl Oumayma Boumeshouli who are true creative geniuses. These bloggers are literally paving the way for fashion today, working as stylists, creative directors and photographers. Forget Vogue, forget Harper's Bazaar, doesn't everyone just head straight to their Insta feed for outfit inspo?! We know we certainly do and 9 times out of 10 we are stalking the ever so talented, Oumayma, who is our all time fave blogger. No words can describe how beyond her entire page is, her feed looks like one dreamy editorial full of incredible outfits, so of course we wanted to collab with Oumayma on our #SarokaSeries. When Oumayma agreed, we felt extremely honoured to have the opportunity to work with her, considering she works with the likes of Balenciaga, Jacquemus & Off White!!!
This week Oumayma rocked our ALEXIS SHORTS
in Paris and amongst her demanding schedule, we squeezed in a mini interview with her, talking all things fashion, career & travel of course!
Tell us, what was your day job before starting your personal blog?
I was a student and used to work in a clothing shop, I loved styling the customers and everyone told me I should do something more with my talent, so I gave blogging a try. As I was studying and building my blog, I found myself missing out on so many great opportunities with brands because of my study commitments. Before I decided to start blogging full time, I had to make an important decision as to whether or not I should continue studying. So I decided to finish my first year, take a break, focus on blogging and see how things would turn out. It's been just over a year now since I quit my studies and I'm totally fine, I've never felt so good before, my top tip is to always follow what your heart truly desires.
You have travelled to some of the most beautiful places around the world, what would be your top recommendation as a destination to visit?
I think for me it will always be Morocco, I'm originally from Morocco and when I go back to visit, the country surprises me every time, I feel like I haven't seen it all, just only 1%. It's such a beautiful country, the food and people are amazing, when I go back to Casablanca it really feels like home. Marrakech is my getaway place, it's where I get to hang out with all my friends, drink lots of mint tea and eat Moroccan sweets.
Your creative direction and styling is absolutely incredible, where do you draw your inspiration from?
